Weight Loss Management - Bariatric Surgery

Weight Loss Management - Bariatric Surgery

It is laying the new smoking?

More than a rhetorical question, I wondered with all my efforts, if I am engaged in any type of exercise throughout the day? Putting aside my personal hat and looking at it from the standpoint of all, I have to say that the answer is NO.

Gone are the days when the main section of the workforce made up of farmers. The environments in which modern humans feel or movement has been changing rapidly since the middle of last century. These changes in different types of technologies have been associated with a reduction of the requirements of physical activity. We live in a decade where technology rules the world and therefore most of the jobs are related to technology. These jobs are office based and are leading a sedentary lifestyle.

According to researchers at the Department of Biomedical, Israel, the cell expansion acts as an important factor in the production of fat. Cells "fat", ie the cells in the body higher than the average fat content become larger when exposed to continuous physical pressure - sit as pressure. Research also indicates that "unlike bone and muscle, getting mechanically weaker with inactivity, fat accumulates in the cells and expands when subjected to load up to 50%."

The above condition is in turn leads to obesity. The obesity-related condition can also lead to coronary heart disorders, stroke, diabetes and cancer.

An alarming situation

More than a third of American adults are obese. The prevalence of obesity has doubled in the past four decades. Also spending on health care in the United States has doubled twice in obesity than before. According to a study by the University of Cornwell, obesity now accounts for almost 21% (over $ 200 billion per year) costs US healthcare.

The situation is almost similar throughout the world and should be addressed immediately. Local governments with the help of the central government should implement plans to reduce obesity-related disorders. This in turn, reduce health care costs and the same funds can be used for any other activity related to the public welfare. Duty cycle, basic schedule of exercise, proper diet should be some of the policies applied by the government to keep a tab on obesity.

Opportunities for new entrants

As we have seen above that the prevalence of obesity has doubled in the past four decades, the market for weight control has a huge margin for new entrants. The market in developed countries in North America and Europe is growing at an exponential rate and will favor new entrants. The main objective of the new players must be the development of quality products and provide efficient services to the people. We must also invest wisely for the marketing of products and services is. Companies will only come if people are well aware of the new elements introduced in the market. Find out the shortcomings of the current players and provide an improved product will give an added advantage to win the trust of customers.

Opportunities in the OTC segment

The segment counter medicines is also growing at a rapid pace. The increasing inclination of the pharmaceutical industry to make its product line Rx to OTC medications aimed expiry of the patent and brand their products accordingly, increasing awareness among the population about the potential benefits of counter medications that involve avoid visiting the doctor for minor problems, vast product innovations in this field, the potential cost savings involved the use of OTC compared to prescription drugs and a strong government stimulus to promote self-care and responsibility for their own health and well-being are the reason that favors market-counter medications. New entrants and industry giants investment in the segment of OTC medicines will reap huge benefits in the near future.

Last but not least

A mixture of diets, the control over eating, keep a tab on calorie consumption, self-control, and the gradual increase in physical activity, starting with small exercises can help in reducing weight and obesity control . Successful weight loss results from a combination of motivation, physical activity, effective diet and caloric restriction.
