Eat Real, Whole Foods and Prevent Overeating

Why Whole Foods?

Whole foods come in its original form without any change in them. Whole foods are vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, meat and fish, potatoes and sweet potatoes. These foods have more nutrients than highly processed foods that we find on the shelves of our supermarkets. Whole foods like fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that help your body to deal with all the bad toxins and chemicals that are released when you are under stress.

What is the problem with highly processed foods?

Highly processed foods are very high in calories and low in nutrients. Because they are highly processed that tend to overeat them and the consequences are overweight and obese. Processed foods are introduced into the market every day with complicated formulations and ingredients list is very confusing for consumers.

You know what that is added to food?

Do you really understand all these ingredients listed in your tub of margarine?

Ingredients: water, vegetable oils (45%), whey, salt (1.4%), emulsifiers (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, sunflower lecithin), flavoring (containing milk), preservative (potassium sorbate) , citric acid, vitamins A and D, color (carotene).

If not, why do you continue to eat foods that do not even understand the ingredients list? Obviously you have been told by manufacturers and health workers is good for you, containing vitamins and minerals that are essential for your body!

What are the health effects of chemicals and preservatives added in our food?

As you can see in the ingredient list above, our food is processed but not only chemical additives and preservatives are added to enhance flavor and prolong its life. Most of these chemical additives are harmful to our health and have known negative effects. The effects of some of these foods as GM foods are still unknown. For example, artificial colors, sweeteners and MSG have been shown to have many negative effects on our health.

These ingredients are added to foods to be eating more and addicted to these foods. For example, phosphoric acid is added in diet sodas which gives the bitter taste has been associated with lower bone density diseases and kidney. Emulsifiers, which are used to extend the shelf life of processed foods, have also been linked with obesity.

Therefore, eat natural foods in their natural state must be our priority as it is the only way we ate before there food processing.
