Recently, I was interviewed on a radio program on the theme of living life free though. I was disappointed that I did not know about that program before. (Get it? See what I did there?) Anyway, who would think that when someone is interviewing me, the subject could change with the issue of weight loss? What a surprise! The host made a series of questions about all psychological, physical, and even spiritual aspects dropping weight and finally landed on the big Kahuna for anyone who has ever faced the battle of the bulge, "So, you've worked with literally tens of thousands of people in this area. What is your guess as to why so many people regain their weight? "
It is a sad reality.
According to an article published earlier this year, nearly 65 percent of people who lost weight back to the starting point (or higher) in three years. That is the clinical director of the Weight and Eating Disorders Program at the University of Pennsylvania, so one can take that to the bank statistics. As for people who try to crash diets, defined as any unhealthy diet, diets severe calorie restriction diets consisting of only a few types of food; the picture is even bleaker. Wellsphere, a website sponsored by Stanford University, reports that only five percent of enjoying long-term success. That measure also includes diet lose weight fast. For clarity, a (for example, "not fast") sustainable weight loss is considered as a long-term average of 0.5 to two pounds per week.
So, back to the question; Why up to 95 percent of people regain their weight within a few years? I do not have to guess to answer. Pure and simple, its goal was misplaced. They chose mistake to lose weight rather than recreate their lifestyles. Such elsewise, focused on how quickly they could get the number on the scale to fall rather than develop habits to see how long could a sustainable way of life and reasonable to support a healthy weight once they succeeded.
You see, most people who decide to lose those extra pounds are caught in the "how fast can I lose / how long it takes to" treadmill. Virtually every decision aims to accelerate the process, mistakenly believe that if they can get the weight, everything is going to work its way out. They are so caught up in the "now" that do not take time to realize that there will be a "continuation". It is similar to spend every penny just because during his career on what you want right away, without any regard for what you do when you retire.
Those of us success in maintaining long-term weight are neither smarter, better or luckier. By contrast, after hitting his head against the wall several times, usually after several such failed attempts to what has already been described, it dawned on us: What though is we a reflection of the way in how we behave that our lives. It's not just about what we eat or is random chance. We did it ourselves, chances unwittingly, but nonetheless fact. Logically then, we have to rebuild our lives and the scale automatically will reflect those changes. The definition of what that looks like varies, but usually includes the development of patience, acceptance of better setbacks, the execution time is out of control, eating and cooking healthy, growing activity, changing the internal dialogue, and overall better learning to enjoy the trip, instead of waiting for fate.
